This is really serious

The latest report from the IPCC has been carefully crafted to avoid being thrown aside as alarmist and therefore untrustworthy.

It is actually telling us that action is not just needed urgently – it is critically important that we act NOW – where ‘we’ means the whole world.

OK. So that is impossible.

But WE have to make it possible, or future generations are literally doomed.

We here in Australia are fortunate in having an election looming, because we can now concentrate on the only issue of importance.

Forget about party politics.

Think about staying alive and having acceptable living conditions.

What must we do to ensure that can be achieved?

We have to have agreement on banning use of all fossil fuels THIS YEAR!

We need to be guided by diplomats and scientists with appropriate knowledge and understanding – and some of the current independent candidates – who need no convincing about the reality of global warming – are probably worth serious consideration.

There is still – just! – time to consider other suitable candidates.

Forget old ‘party’ feuds and biases.

These are deadly serious times and we can only have this one chance to get it right.

We need to persuade the whole world that action now is far more important than building empires and conquering the world, only for it to prove to be no friend to us.

If you agree with me, please share this article as widely as possible, get involved and help ensure that we stop destroying our world but keep it. and as much of our environment as possible, in a liveable state.

When the Industrial Revolution started this fossil fuel emissions Armageddon there were only a billion human beings on the planet competing for the Earth’s limited resources that were necessary for their survival.

At the end of the Second World War there were 2.5 billion people, and twenty years ago there were 6.5 billion.

There are now more than 8.3 billion human beings on the planet, using up natural resources at a faster rate than they can be replenished. The Earth is heading for a mass extinction event all because it has more human beings demanding food, shelter and indulgence than it can possibly support.

Have you heard of the Gaia Hypothesis?

It suggests that the Earth will self regulate to maintain the conditions necessary for life.

If this is true then the Earth will solve the problem of Anthropogenic Climate Change by reducing the number of anthropoids to a sustainable level.

So all that we anthropoids need to do is die, billions and billions of us, by natural disasters, famine, war and plague, until the Earth is able to regulate the conditions necessary to maintain life again. And it looks like we have already made a start, what with COVID rapidly evolving towards an omega version, a pending nuclear exchange that may trigger a nuclear winter to counter global warming, and everywhere massive disruption to supply chains and harvests failing due to extreme weather.

You may think I’m being foolishly optimistic, but where there is life there is hope, and where there is hope there might be life, I hope. Better to hope in vain than give in to the pessimistic view that a runaway greenhouse gas effect will turn the Earth into a second Venus incapable of sustaining any life at all.

As you say, we must keep our world and as much of our environment as possible, in a liveable state, even if we ourselves don’t get to live in it.

Otherwise, what is the point of this pale blue dot?

The Morrison government have chosen to use political games in refusing to release a major report on the state of Australia’s environment it received more than three months ago.

The Australia State of the Environment report, which is produced every five years was supposed to have been tabled in parliament within 15 sitting days of receiving it. With parliament having sat only briefly this year, the government is not legally required to release it until the next parliament forms after the election.

Whilst the government can use technicalities to withhold this report they could as easily release it before the election but probably won’t.

Dear Rosemary J36, I think our time of hope is done. From what I can see, I’m pretty sure there is not much hope for this civilisation to save our status on this planet! It will disturb you as much as it does me to recognise that everything we humans achieved will ultimately become our very own downfall! And sadly, I’m only waiting for that ignorant, over-powered Fucktard Putin, to waste his life along with so many others in a battle; of social/military uselessness!

Ecologically, successful species reach a point where they have a population crash of some significance.
Usually close to 50%. 11 billion is the optimistic forecast for our mammalian species to stabilise with a reduced birth rate. Our present discomfort is due to some of us being reduced to eating Bats. In Australia some people are reduced to eating roadkill.
I doubt that i will be around to see 11 Billion but pose this question:

Has anyone worked out the most comfortable population for Australia?
Kevin Rudd’s guesstimate of 44 million by 2050 was a little off putting.

We knew that the previous LNP federal coalition were incompetent. We knew that they were corrupt. We knew that they were mendacious, that they were comprised of a regressive set of self-serving seat-warmers, that they were not forward-looking, that they were genetically inclined to look after themselves first and foremost, along with their corporate donors and bedfellows; the fossil fuel types, the climate change deniers, the top end of town, and along with that we knew they harboured little empathy for the electorates at large or the environment in which those electorates were constituted.

We knew all this, natively, if we cared to pay attention.

The media did its best to maintain the smokescreen, that foggy cloud of distraction that flings its allure constantly, never-endingly, at a willing audience; here’s the sports, folks, here’s another cooking show, here’s a dating show… who’s the lucky gal then?, and here’s the news, look, over there, it’s a war in the Middle east, it’s another war in eastern Europe, it’s a dystopian nightmare in the USA, oh look, Trump’s a villain, here, look again, Boris is a clown and a cad… but never, never, did they mention the reality of what is happening here, right here, in this country; of how under a decade of LNP federal management the country was inexorably going down the tubes; MSM.. all of them, including the ABC as well as the corporates; Murdoch’s press, the TV stations 7, 9 & 10, all of them negligent and failing to prosecute the first priority of the fourth estate.

The former environment minister Sussan Ley refused to release the 6th national state of the environment report while she was in government. She stands rightly condemned as a gutless wonder. The opposition have a semi-demonic cruel & regressive man as its leader and a gutless wonder as its second in command.

Environment Minster Tanya Plibersek will release the 2022 State of the Environment Report at the National Press Club today, July 19th.

It will make for the grimmest of reading.

We knew the previous government were a pack of bastards.

The proof is now before us.
