The attack on women by Australian politicians, and Alan Jones

Things have been just dandy for women in the last forty eight hours, with broadcaster Alan Jones declaring that Prime Minister Scott Morrison should give New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern a few backhands to shut her up, and then stuff a sock down her throat.

Jones was supported by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, who mildly reprimanded him for his boy talk, before going on to declare that Jones is a “mainstay of our media.”

Then yesterday evening many of us in NSW received a robot call from Nationals backbencher Barnaby Joyce. Joyce stated that he was calling on behalf of the Foundation for Human Development on the matter of the NSW Abortion Bill.

The Foundation’s contact point is the NSW branch of Right to Life, and we can presume that the robocalls were paid for by this anti choice organisation.

I will transcribe Joyce’s message:

[The NSW Abortion Bill] prohibits giving critical care to babies born alive following abortion and this will be given to any other baby born alive prematurely.

In other words, every other premature baby will be given critical care, except those born alive following an abortion who will be either left to die, or slaughtered by the medical professionals in attendance.

[The Bill] allows sex selective abortions. It legalises abortion for any reason up until the day of birth.

No, the Bill does not “allow sex selective abortions.” No, the Bill does not legalise abortion for any reason up to the day of birth.

Barnaby Joyce is a liar.

We have now heard that the Shooters Fishers & Farmers Party will refuse to work with the NSW government “ever again,” according to its leader Robert Borsak, if the Abortion Bill is passed.

Given the events of the last twenty four hours, a woman could be forgiven for thinking she’s been teleported to a southern state in the USA, where governments and their evangelical supporters routinely use our bodies as battlegrounds.

There is little more dangerous to women than a cabal of white, privileged, powerful men in politics and media who believe they have the right to control our bodies. What is needed is an equally powerful cabal of white, privileged, powerful men in politics and media who will vocally support us in our fight for bodily autonomy. So far, I hear very few men of influence doing that.

When the Treasurer of Australia describes a misogynist, violent scroat as a “media mainstay,” I have little hope.

The Age ran an article about Jones/Ardern, and believe it or not he has a number of defenders. It’s the equivalent of a cockroach appreciation society, or hunting wombats with machine guns. Cuneiform country.

ScuMo and the scumbags seem to be getting through the fluoride haze and I am meeting so many people who are getting quite annoyed by the antics of the Sunday Christians and their arsociates

Jack Cade, I understand that in cueiform era women ran businesses and had some clout. In this ‘man’s mind he prefers the Adam and Eve model, where women are for men’s service, not ever equals. I have known the odd homosexual like that ( odd being the operative word). Others are lovely.

When the children of Freudian discussion actually refuse to grow up, embrace the worst possibilities of the Oedipus position, declare that childishness is so adult, so Trump/Morrison/Johnson, etc., we know that this latest perverted turn of fascist fantasy is bad, worse than we and the planet deserve. Overgrown loudmouthed children are not socially acceptable and never were, so tolerating the leaders who reflect the ignorance of the marginal voting shithead slaves who did the deed and got them in office is a reflection of filth of ignorance, lack of foresight, under education fit to curse us. Enough boofheads and backward boneheads thought that voting for an imaginary ruling class of posing poofy pontificating political perverts was a way to guarantee the future?? What idiocy, voting for slavery, subjection, slime and sluts who will do anything for the pose, the money, the recognition from fellow travelling greedy thieves in corporations, finance, media, general business and associated military, manufacturing, media maggoting and mining. SHITABRICK!

Barnaby Joyce wrote an article for the SMH titled “NSW abortion bill imposes death penalty on the innocent.”

Perhaps someone could write a companion piece “Offshore detention claims another life”. Or “Robodebt suicides”. Or “Global statistics on premature death death due to coal mining and burning”. Or “I can’t feed my kids on Newstart payment”. Or “The damage caused to families when men f-ck their secretary”.

Fred Nile calls the bill “a tyrannical piece of legislation that enforces secular morality on everyone” when in actual fact, the bill forces nothing on anyone and it is Fred and Barnaby and other such hypocrtical males who want to enforce their male Christian perspective on us even though our constitution expressly forbids this – we ARE a secular country boys so take your patriarchal Christian morality and play with it yourselves.

These suppurating sluts for superstition, supremacy, righteous ratbag rubbish and a chance to appear bright, intelligent and useful, when in fact they are haemhorroidal, horrible and harmful to progress, is frightening. Fred Nile could fail the kindy Leaving Cert., Joyce is a loose penis without a map and compass, Borsak is a filthy fighting fool with fantasy victims about to be dream victims and the abhorrent P M, a misfit, mediaeval mug, a monster myth lover and horrible hun, is over the lot with his example of the turd floating to the top of the political perversion pole for power posing and lying cheerfully to the brain afflicted fleas who returned him and his stinking colleagues. Health issues are like all professional issues between a trained operative and a client, customer, patient and voluntary consultation seeker. Women in particular, need a respectful round table, gentlemanly, noble detachment, as vulnerable and valuable.

I don’t care much for sport but I am very glad the All Blacks walloped the Wallabies 36 – 0 in Auckland just after Jones ugly comments.
Maybe a small celebration for Jacinta.

  8. Matters Not

In the Marriage Equality debate, the tactic of choice was delay, delay – for as long as possible – perhaps in the vain hope that sinners would see the light and repent – or failing that, the issue would simply go away etc. Indeed there was almost boundless faith to share in Abbott’s supposed masterstroke.

Didn’t happen then and it ain’t gonna happen now.

To have a figure of fun, aka Barnaby Joyce, leading the (supposed moral) charge, shows an appalling lack of political judgement. (And that’s a good thing.)

And for once, NSW can lead the way and not QLD.

  9. Kaye Lee

Barnaby Joyce: “We know that the best protection for those girls (his daughters) is that they get themselves into a secure relationship with a loving husband and I want that to happen for them. I don’t want any legislator to take that right away from me.”

Barnaby is big on the “I want”. I am not sure how marriage equality would detract from ‘his right’ to marry his daughters off. It’s not your decision Barnaby let alone your ‘right’.

What a silly man he is.

  10. Matters Not

Marx wrote of rural idiocy as the reason why significant change wouldn’t come from that source. Joyce provides the validation.

(Adams is on and now visiting Greenland to explore Trump’s latest crap. And needless to say gun control.)

  11. Kaye Lee

Engels spoke of isolation and described the rural weavers as a class “which had remained sunk in apathetic indifference to the universal interests of mankind.”

That may explain the re-election of people like Joyce and the selfishness of NSW cotton farmers and Queensland coal miners?

  12. Joseph Carli

“Engels spoke of isolation and described the rural weavers as a class “which had remained sunk in apathetic indifference to the universal interests of mankind.”….”

The poem “The Silesian Weavers” (also: Weaver-song) by Heinrich Heine is exemplary of the political poetry of the Vormärz movement. It is about the misery of the Silesian weavers, who in 1844 ventured an uprising against exploitation and wage decreases, and thereby drew attention to the grievances originated in the context of industrialization. Friedrich Engels was the first to translate the poem into English.

This poem was inspired by a protest against the working conditions of weavers in Silesia, a province of Prussia in Northeast Germany. Riots occured in 1844, demanding better conditions.

As a result of this poem, and the riots resulting in revolution, the king of Prussia was forced to allow his people a constitution. This theme was also treated in a naturalistic play called Die Weber by Gerhart Hauptman inspired by the accounts of Wilhelm Wolff. When first preformed in 1983 in Berlin, the German authority banned it.

The Silesian Weavers by H. Heine
    Translated by Sasha Foreman

    Their gloom-enveloped eyes are tearless,
They sit at the spinning wheel, snarling cheerless:
“Germany, we weave your funeral shroud,
A threefold curse be within it endowed-
    We’re weaving, we’re weaving!

A curse on God to whom we knelt
When hunger and winter’s cold we felt,
To whom we flocked in vain and cried,
Who mocked us and poxed us and cast us aside,
    We’re weaving, we’re weaving!

A curse on the king, the wealthy men’s chief
Who was not moved even by our grief
Who wrenched the last coin from our hand of need,
And shot us, screaming like dogs in the street!
    We’re weaving, we’re weaving!

A curse on this lying father-nation
Where thrive only shame and degradation,
Where every flower’s plucked ere it’s bloom
And worms thrive in the dank rot and gloom-
    We’re weaving, we’re weaving!

O shuttle fly! Loom crank away!
We weave unfailing, night and day-
Old Germany, we weave your funeral shroud,
A threefold curse be within it endowed-
    We’re weaving, we’re weaving!

Kaye Lee…I’d hardly call them “apathetic”….perhaps Engles mistook the organisational capabilities of the weavers…for many Silesians ended up here in Sth Aust’ when the province was first started in the 1830’s…

  13. Kaye Lee

Jospeh, the quote came from his Condition of the Working Class in England (1845). Perhaps he was inspired by the activism of the Silesians?

I’d still like to know why Barnaby gets re-elected.

  14. Pere Duchesne

That is not a very nice thing to say, Matter Not.

Interesting but not unexpected that SKY-after-dark has rallied to the defence of Alan Jones and the nasty way we (of the Left) have intentionally misinterpreted his innocent slip of the tongue over Jacinda Ardern.

Chris Kenny says that he knows well, as a journalist using words all day, every day, that occasionally a slip of the tongue occurs.

Peta Credlin says she knows Alan well and knows that it is just nasty people of the Left who have labelled Alan as a misogynist.

Strange that they never refer to his chaff-bag comments about Julia Gillard or his calls for the sacking of the incompetent Louise Herron , head of the Sydney Opera House Trust when she declined to have horse racing promotions shown on the Opera House sails. Among other things he barked at Herron when she tried to explain the approach of the Opera House Trust : “I’m telling you, I will be speaking with Gladys Berejiklian in about three minutes and if you can’t come to the party, Louise, you should lose your job.”Jones, of course, has horse racing and breeding interests.

We should all be very disturbed with the low quality of so called journalism at Sky-after-dark, there is no attempt at balance or objectivity. It is just one continuous right-wing rant. No wonder David Speers, the only journalist at Sky is getting out and joining the ABC, he can see what’s happening and it ain’t very nice.

Re Joseph Carli: Would that be the “Vorwaerts” movement?

  17. Baby Jewels

“Stay out of my life” Barnaby bellowed…not so long ago. So stay out of othe private lives of women, you hypocrite.

  18. New England Cocky

Women’s health is exclusively women’ business just a men’ health is exclusively men’s business.

  19. Joseph Carli

Andreas..: ” the Vormärz movement”…they sound similar..I cannot be sure..I’ll leave that one to you.

Barnaby got back in with an increased majority because the people are corrupted both morally and materially…there is little hope for them to come back from this point without some grave consequences..as the lure and reward for corruption increases in intensity until something snaps..in this case, and when we have a policing authority seemingly unwillling to act against their masters, I suspect the environment will…

Jones has a problem with his belief that he is right but the worse aspect is that there are so many Australians who agree?
    ps
What sort of misogynistic arseholes are the vic conservative judges and prosecutors who do not seek a life sentence for the man who raped and murdered Eurydice Dixon because he is too young and ‘it would weigh heavily on him’.?
What a $$#$*6/7$ awful is it to say ‘he’s too young’ when Eurydice was only 22?
How far are these legal ‘men’ from arguing whether to kill then rape is more humane than raping before murdering.
    ps
Is abortion a federal concern? Will barnaby, another jesuit indoctrinate, make it so???

  21. Phil

Joseph Carli my man me thinks this little song by Pete Seeger is just as apt in the modern world. It is deeper than just the suburban sprawl.

    Little boxes on the hillside
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
    Little boxes
    Little boxes
    Little boxes all the same
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

And the people in the houses all went to the university
And they all get put in boxes, little boxes all the same
And there’s doctors and there’s lawyers
    And business executives
And they all get put in boxes, and they all come out the same
And they all play on the golf course and drink their martini dry
And they all have pretty children and the children go to school
And the children go to summer camp
    And then to the university
And they all get put in boxes, and they all come out the same
And the boys go into business and marry and raise a family
And they all get put in boxes, little boxes all the same

There’s a green one, and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

    Pete Seeger. RIP.

BTW, there are no weavers in Queensland anymore. Most of the people there couldn’t begin to understand that poem. Most of the inbreeds that live there, would equate the meaning of that poem with, ‘ Union Thuggery ‘. We are on the road to perdition and there aint no stopping it. The treatment of women like second class citizens will continue unabated. The Barnaby Joyce’s and Alan Jones’s of the world have won. They know their supporters are as dumb as dish water and they give a flying fluck about what anyone thinks on excellent blogs like this one. I forget who said evil flourishes when good men do nothing. The time for revolution is drawing nearer by the hour.

  23. Joseph Carli

Ah, Phil…I remember when that catchy litty ditty came out!..it was even quoted in part back in thee day by our erstwhile Premier; Don Dunstan….And do we see that man that Dutton wanted sent back to PNG is now possibly going to be returned, “unopened”, back to OZ!…me thinks as yourself that the time for revolution and the overthrow of government is nigh!

And as Grumpy Geezer has so eloquently pointed out..: If this mob of jerkoffs got any thicker, they’d have to be spread on the Parliament benches with a plasterers trowel!

  24. Keitha Granville

Barnaby Joyce talking about a secure and loving marriage? Goodness me, is there no end to his hypocrisy ??

Any man who thinks any woman makes a glib decision to terminate a life and end a pregnancy have never, and will never, have to face that decision. They bleat about abortion as if we happily skip into the clinic and watch as a baby is dragged from our bodies and dashed on the floor.

It is the hardest and most traumatic decision any woman has to make, and I am damn sure no man should have part in that decision.
