Peter Dutton gutless and weak in not reducing climate pollution this decade
Climate advocacy project Solutions for Climate Australia stated it was deeply disturbed by the announcement today by Federal Liberal Party leader Peter Dutton that the Federal Coalition will not commit to pathways and targets to reduce climate pollution this decade.
“This is a gutless and weak approach by Mr. Dutton – it’s not doing anything to deal with increasing climate disasters. If put into place, the Federal Liberal-Nationals no-plan on climate would produce billions more tonnes of climate pollution and place many more Australians in the path of climate disasters.
“It unfortunately confirms that the Federal Liberals and Nationals have no plan to keep Australians safe from the worsening impacts of fires, floods and extreme weather. They have no plan to maintain trade and security in a world increasingly moving to action on climate. It risks stranding existing jobs and investment in renewable energy solutions,” said Dr Barry Traill, Director of Solutions for Climate Australia.
“Millions of Australians have already directly experienced the impacts of climate change. Tens of thousands of Australians have lost homes, livelihoods and businesses from increasing fire, drought, storms and floods in recent years. Hundreds of Australians have lost their lives.
“Australians expect their political leaders to work hard to keep people safe. The Federal Liberal and National parties are failing on this basic test of leadership,” said Dr Traill.

Even if Dutton or another Liberal Party leader (see Turnbull) tried to implement any climate measures, he would be stymied by his own coalition partners, the National Party.
The Nats are in thrall to Atlas Koch IPA & CIS, Rhinehart and Murdoch led media promoting climate science denial and delaying tactics, often supported by ‘townies’, while actual farmers follow science?
Not unique to Australia with the same Atlas Koch active outside the Anglosphere e.g. including their Heritage linked to Danube Inst. in Budapest, supported by a foundation linked to govt. of PM ‘mini Putin’ Orban, employing Fox Board’s Tony Abbott. Their remit seems to be opposing and endeavouring to break up or gridlock the EU and EP on climate measures, avoid minimum standards on labour, consumer protections, environment, tax and financial transfers etc.; an Anglo Trojan horse (but alleged that Putin is the rider?).

I think Dutton’s long sequence of nuttiness is a deliberate ploy. He is so rancid that the People will flock to even a mediocre replacement, would be their theory.
Firstly, Andrew Smith, the Liberal Party is as factionalised as the Labor Party, and Potty Boy Dutton is not a moderate. The Liberal Party would have to be dominated by the moderates for there to be sensible policy on climate change.
Anybody who can’t see, and no, I don’t mean you, Andrew Smith, I mean the general public, that Potty Boy Dutton is doing the bidding of Rinehart and Palmer, has their head in the sand. Potty Boy bangs on about the POSSIBILITY of terrorist attacks, but completely ignores the certainty that if we do NOT start acting now to reduce our carbon emissions on a global scale, we will pay for it dearly!

The Liberals don’t do policy. Any real policy they propose would be analysed by not only a precious few journalists, but actual knowledgeable and qualified experts. That would mean the Libs would face questions that could only be answered with waffle. So, better not have policies and feel safe. And any notion that Lib factions can put the ‘capture’ right, is demonstrably a vain hope against the dominant divisive and corrupt bullies of and around the party.
The MSM persistently ignores the facts of ‘capture’ and corruption rife in the LNP, because their owners and controllers are also ‘captured’ and corrupt, and they all assiduously sweep such matters under the carpet, whilst blatantly on every occassion giving irrelevant foghorn voice of unexplained dissension and hate to all matters actioned or proposed by Labor. And also actively dredge up any irrelevent gossip to pose a pathetic, childish ‘gotcha’ as a diversion from pressing matters of political importance. They now have the lying temerity to call it ‘balance’, when it is actually designed absence of analysis and truth.
Thankfully the dying MSM are disappearing up their own incompetent and lying fundaments, and eating each other alive, and in the process, revealing to the punters their complete lack of scruples and lack of service to the benefit of the country as a whole.

Further to all comments thus far, it seems clear from ongoing rubbish emitted by Dutton that he is a volunteer dickhead front for every mad, greedy, uncivilised, undereducated, irresponsible, attitude in duncey Australia. Do not presume that this is a clever country, for too many utterly empty types have an ego out there like an overinflated condom, while the core is small in achievement, ability, comprehension and responsibiity. Dutton lacks everything from credibility to a record of experience in matters relevant. He is hugely EMPTY. But, behind him are queues of men, mostly, executive, managerial, ambitious, primitive and lacking decencies, They pay to push, they cough up to control. A few have gone recently, including the repulsive swollen wart Costello. Good.., for the nation needs pruning of dead and infectious wood-like willy wavers and whackers. So, buy a Dutton and squeeze it, for results, not justice or law.
I think we all know what the fossil fuel loving Lieberals’ big plan really is – first reduce the 2030 target, and then the 2050 target……….and along the way screw over the entire country by wasting hundreds of billions on nuclear whilst screwing over consumers with the obscene cost of nuclear energy electricity prices to pay for it.
Dutton has little to lose by highlighting labor’s inability to reach the target.
Politically only the loonies can win with climate and then only with a cunning leader lying by telling the truth followed by disingenuous innuendo.
Such tactics has won in Brisbane and could unseat another 5 or 6 labor in future/.

I bought another book on climate change. It made me cry in anger and despair like no other. It is a Quarterly Essay no. 94 2024 called “Highway To Hell:Climate Change and Australia’s Future” by Joelle Gergis, a lead author for IPPC’s Sixth Assessment Report and other books.
We know so much about the general effects of climate change in Australia and around the world, such as rising seas, melting ice, floods and warming, costs, etc, but behind it all there are people making profits though sham carbon offsets and fossil fuel subsidies. It makes one wonder and to try to understand what the future holds for us and our children.
We know there are some who have no idea and do not care or want to know.

They seem to have left out a word in the opening of the first sentence, it shoud read, “Liberal voters have given Opposition Leader…”
