Shock Jocks, Turnbull And Housetraining …

Ok, I am aware that there’s a certain type in the media who relies on saying something shocking in order to create the sort of controversy that gets them noticed. And there are some who’d say anything that someone paid them to say.

They’re the sort who are “housetrained”. Bring out your chequebook and they’ll tell you that black is white.

Sorry, Andrew, that’s just a figure of speech, so don’t get all funny about that court case, and Alan we’ve forgotten all about that Media Watch!

I mean, Alan Jones and Andrew Bolt are pillars. They are extraordinary human beings.

How do I know this?

Well, a few days ago, someone was suggesting that Turnbull had a “narcissist personality disorder”. And there were descriptions about what such a thing meant, but to use the Wikipedia defintion, it means that “a person is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves and others.”

And yet, in spite of Turnbull’s alleged disorder, we’re told today, by Andrew Bolt that he’s been “housetrained”.

That’s Turnbull, not Bolt. Nobody could ever accuse Bolt of being “housetrained”.

Anyway, this Prime Minister – the one with prestige and vanity – has been harnessed by Jones and Bolt.

Yep, Bolt wrote today:

“So, yes, I should feel like Samson after a haircut. But here’s the funny thing. We’ve actually won. Me and Alan. We’ve house-trained Turnbull.”

Now some of you may have a problem with the idea that a Prime Minister could be the pet of two people who’s only claim to representing the people is that they give their opinion and that they don’t listen to anyone else. But, in Bolt’s world, this is what democracy means. He has the right to say whatever he likes and anyone who disagrees should be shut down, shut up or shut off.

After all, as he said when that other Murdoch paper, The Australian, had the temerity to critiicism him, he only has his reputation, so nobody should attack that. Particularly a paper that relies on the tabloids to subsidise it.

Now some may see a problem with the idea that Malcolm Turnbull would “housetrained” by such a person, but I don’t.

That’s because I read Andrew Bolt’s column today. And that means that I know all that I need to know. Because even though Bolt never completed his university degree, he’s somehow been able to become an expert on everything.

Even controlling PM’s with alleged narcissist disorders.

Pity he didn’t do it when Tony and Peta were running things …

How inadvertently funny Bolt is, he really could not train a dog to shit on the pavement.

Are the shock jocks trying to fool us with smoke and mirrors?

Lets face it Alan Jones and Andrew Bolt cannot come out and state that the previous Labor government did a better job of governing the country than the Abbott government has done, it would make them look even stupider than we know they are. Turnbull taking out Abbott has given them a target to assassinate that could undermine the LNP’s chances of winning the next election without the need to admit they were wrong. It is the perfect charade that gets them clear of a catch 22 situation.

But I doubt either of them are smart enough to devise a plot like this it was probably planned as a pay back by Peta Credlin.

I notice that the new PM and his Ministers are now accepting invitations from the ABC which is good for our democracy but very bad for the shock jocks.

Ray Hadley reached another bizarre low when he called on Scott Morrison to swear on a bible : who in their right mind would expose themselves to this nonsense just to promote a Conservative philosophy, mate.

Who knows, we may even see the demise of the Sydney Institute and the IPA as they are starved of oxygen.

I have to ask. who in their right mind would start their day with bolt?

It’s going too far when the government tries to use our schools to push its propaganda….

“Environmentalists and teachers are up in arms over a new Federal Government anti-radicalisation kit that links green activism and “alternative music” to terrorism.

The Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Terrorism Michael Keenan launched the Radicalisation Awareness Kit in the form of a 32-page booklet on Monday.

Through a series of examples and fictitious case studies, the booklet aims to illustrate the circumstances which can lead young people to become radicalised.

But one surprising example cites the power of the alternative music scene and environmental activism in the radicalisation process.

The case study in the ‘Violent Extremism’ section tells the story of a girl called ‘Karen’ who becomes involved in the “alternative music scene, student politics and left-wing activism” when she leaves home.

‘Karen’ ends up sabotaging logging machinery and being arrested “on numerous occasions” while becoming “totally cut off from her family”.”

The anti-radicalisation kit is a worry, particularly when it implies in its fictitious case studies, that a respect for the environment and a willingness to defend it is the first step on the path to ‘terrorism’.
This LNP government has continued its assault on the hearts and minds of our children. The first assault being its ‘review’ of our previous history curriculum as being too left biased.
So they give Kevin Donelly (he,of the nasty racist email fame) the task of reviewing said curriculum. Now it’s all Anzacs, and Federation. No mention of the immigration waves that built this country, no reference of the diversity of our Australian population, no mention of the struggles of our indigenous people, instead a strong emphasis on our Judeo-Christian heritage and ties to our European roots.
So the ‘left biased curriculum’ that was written in consultation with input from various interest groups, educationalists and academics was deemed not robust enough, too biased. And most importantly did not have the IPA stamp of approval, because it encouraged students to think critically.
However the revised version, scrutinised and amended by Donelly and Wiltshire, two right wing academics was the best version?
    I think not.

My old mum has gone to protests. All I think is how lucky I am to have a mother like that. There are many ways for children to be socialised. Having parents stand up against issues like inequality war the environment was the most important gift they could give me. I too plan on taking my daughter to worthy protests. Showing you children that people have a voice is the most important lesson you can teach them. I assume most teachers will put that stupid pamphlet into context.

I took my 6 and 9 year old nephews to the March in March. They made signs themselves – the little one wanted to save the fish 🙂 They read other people’s signs to me and asked what they were about (another reason to keep them clean please). They held up their signs and waved as cars bipped their horns while we marched and when we got to the other end, they found lots of their friends and went over to the playground while the speeches were on – a very educational and enjoyable experience for them of which I have photos to remind them about their early “radicalisation”.

If it wasn’t for protesters and the Whitlam government we would still be sending 19yo boys to Vietnam to be slaughtered.

Hopefully the good teachers out there (the majority I believe) will use the anti-radicalisation kit to turn the tide on the capitalistic radicals in the LNP who are undermining our society.

@Dave – yes, I’d never start the day with Bolt but while sipping my latte I always grab the Murdoch paper to stop some easily influenced person picking it up. It’s my way of stopping the radicalization of our elderly. Starts off with the Bolt column, next they’re listening to country music and chopping down trees.
@Kaye Lee – I was going to write a sendup of the antiradicalizAtion kit but then I saw that one of the writers of the kit had already done it with Karen’s case study

Bolt really isn’t much different than most other corporate media commentators- and quite a few at the ABC.

Flapping his gums constantly about matters he has no credentials, no experience and no expertise in.

Like, do we REALLY care about these stupid, ignorant, ultra right-wing so-called “shock jocks”, & their biased & bigoted opinions? It seems that Tony Abscess was their “best” bum buddy, but now Malcolm Talkbull is in charge it may be a slightly different story!.

  14. Faye Cox

Hey Ross, I’m one of the elderly and I’m “radical” even though I was told to vote Liberal when at High School back in the ’50’s.
    Thanks for the giggle
