Festering Greed

From Christian Marx, two poems of protest.
Festering Greed
Capitalism… a loathsome disease
A festering construction
It brings men to their knees
A harbinger of societal destruction
I will not yield to this beast
It is a putrid anomaly
Like a bacterium of yeast
Like cancer in the anatomy
This evil must be slain
Satan is the creator
Rich men are to blame
Societies sickening shame
Racism is its currency
A rich man’s trick
Selfishness is the surrogacy
In the womb of the tick
Say no to selfishness
Say no to greed
Say yes to freedom
Against the zombie feed.
Minds of Cactus
See the zombies
Shopping while they sleep
Defecating ecstasy
Good consumerist sheep
Minds full of product
Souls full of air
Intellect of a fly
Broken beyond repair
Empty vessels make a noise
Looking for meaning
In their useless toys
Consuming and dreaming
Of a joy that never comes
Only post-apocalyptic screaming
Dancing to corporate drums
Your television is talking to you
Your mobile is your friend
Consume in oblivion
The nightmare never ends
See the zombies
Shopping while they sleep
Defecating ecstasy
Good consumerist sheep
3 investment properties
Yet zero friends
1,000 hangers on
Facebook is a mind bend
Your relatives sit in nursing homes
Waiting for you to care
Too busy on your phone
Meaningful conversation is bare
Intelligence is nowhere to be seen
Diet fads and celebrity gossip
Their minds behind a screen
Keep the lemmings spare
Like a coked-up Lothario
Clicking up the numbers
Too dumb to be aware
See the zombies
Shopping while they sleep
Defecating ecstasy
Good consumerist sheep.

Login here Register hereIn prose or verse, American parasitic capitalism remains an ugly blemish on the achievements of western society since the 1700s. So called “trickle down economics” perpetrated under President Reagan and maintained by successive American oligarchs, sucks the financial resources of the middle classes with the same efficiency as any international war but without the physical casualties or carpet bagging reconstruction opportunities. The surviving victims, disinterested in politics to their own detriment, are left to rebuild their lives from scratch while international bankers continue with impunity to remove the common wealth from the people and store it in private hands.
Perhaps we need to follow the feasting customs of the New Guinea highlands where “the Big Man” re-distributes wealth by holding a feast for the village. The alternative is a return to private sector financial feudalism where assets have absentee owners and make little or no contribution to the good of the community.
This post was censored from the “Cry me a River” thread today despite three attempts.
Uhm David ….. your sentiments are excellent while your analysis needs to checkout the Facebook pages where various sources are collected details this tragic disaster created by the National$ Party relying upon broad acre farmers in SW Qld and NW NSW for huge political donations that allow these water thieves to build levee banks to keep every drop of water that falls as rain on their properties, to pump MDB environmental flows with impunity because it is not their fault that the river flowed upstream to the pumps, to disconnect archaic water measuring devices from the pumps to obfuscate real total pumping, and, after all, it is “Our Right” to pump water from rivers for agriculture.
Michael Daley, Labor NSW Opposition Leader released a press statement from NSW Fisheries showing that POLITICIANS WERE WARNED IN 2012 that these tragic events were likely given the policies failing to regulate and punish where necessary broad acre farmers who were stalking MDB environmental water flows. Indeed, some pundits see this whole matter as the start of the “Water Wars” between the people in urban regional communities and multinational mining and agriculture corporations and foreign government entities.
The solution to this disaster is to require each and every water pump in the MDB to fit a satellite monitoring device as part of water license requirements downloading real time data about pump activity, duration and volumes of water pumped. This should be supplemented with loss of water pumping rights during the most critical stages of cotton plant development and prison time for water thieves when a conviction occurs.
Check out the following Facebook pages where hundreds of disenchanted persons have posted data and evidence of deliberate reckless neglect by Liarbral Notional$ politicians:
We loathe Barnaby and Broad https://www.facebook.com/groups/163781410846186/
Armidale NSW Scandals https://www.facebook.com/ArmidaleScandals/
I should disclose that I have the misfortune of having Barnyard Joke as the representative of the Notional$ Party in my electorate of New England.
“Unregulated” capitalism has become a living nightmare for 3 million plus Ausies who exist “below” the poverty line. The federal government needs to regulate fairness in the economy so that ordinary Australians get a fair go.
There are petitions circulating calling for example for a Royal Commission into the corruption at the heart of water policy. Farming cotton and other water hungry crops and mining are polluting the groundwater and the rivers. Please consider signing petitions. That is better than nothing.
Christian Marx, love your poetry; when will we ever learn….
Unfortunately I don’t have much faith in Shorten to be a reforming PM we desperately need for a government “with balls” to do the right thing by the 3 million plus who are living in poverty. Sadly the only person on the front bench “with balls” is Senator Doug Cameron, he would have been a great PM in his day.
