Golly, whoever would have thought? Murdoch? No! Poll rigging? No! Murdoch? No, it can’t be true. Murdoch? Vote rigging? No! Murdoch? Well, would you believe it?

i can’t believe a good catholic like tony abbott would be involved in nasty stuff like this ! what would god think ?

Polling/market research is/should be interpretation of statistical data and if done correctly with scientific rigour can be quite accurate.

I doubt very much whether any of the principles required are followed and all political polls we see are manufactured to suit the client, i.e. they are pure propaganda and creative deceit.

I think that all the pollsters should know that the election is still 50/50 at the moment. I also think that now is the time for those pollsters to be given a wake-up call and find who is really running the country. The people at the organisation called Get Up! have sent a message to Rupert Murdoch and the people from the newspapers owned and operated by News Corporation Australia that it is the people and not him who should elect a new government. The more lies he tells, the more risks he will face.

My brain is ready to explode, what, why, when, where. Will all this strange election goings on by Mr Murdoch, and his lap dog Abbott end, !!!!!!! They are now doing things in the open, they just keep on doing it everyday… If this election does not go their way, I think, yes I really think they will self-destruct, and so say all of us ….. Thanking you for a great article.

The bellicose stupidity of the legacy media will never diminish, even as they depart to cultural oblivion.

“We are the gatekeepers of information”, they keep bleating as they succumb to the dust of history.

and all the fuss about penny wong fixing the result of what abbott is hiding….abbott is not a good catholic he thinks it is alright to tell lies as long as the people believe him”’but his GOOD FRIEND pell will bless him and forgive him…..but can he forgive himself…….yeeeeeees of course he can religion or principles

Ananda – quote “i can’t believe a good catholic like tony abbott would be involved in nasty stuff like this ! what would god think ?”

While I realise your tongue was firmly planted in your cheek with that statement, Ananda, as someone who was once married to a catholic they can tell porkies with the greatest of ease. Seems to come naturally As for being involved with “nasty stuff” they have confession to deal with that. 😆

The Liberals are clearly sparing no expense this campaign. But they’re really being generous about it. You can give them your email address for free just by Googling “Liberal party” or “Tony Abbott” – or God knows what else. Very kind of them. And of Google to accommodate them. I hope, however, they’ve accounted for spammers because the email and name you give doesn’t have to be real.

in the age today .Six members on Abbotts front bench are Catholics. At least. I wonder if Abbott will tone down the Royal Commission as Pell would like.We will have a country run by Murdoch Rinehardt Pell and last abbottin small letters. What a dreadful bunch of people. How sad for our wonderful country.

What chance that any fixing of Polls could backfire. IF the LNP are portrayed as a shoe in, then any Australian barracking for the underdog may vote against the LNP.

Have no fears people George brandis is going to talk to the appropriate police commissioner about this but first he has to make some more evidence up to crucify craig thomson/thompson.

What worries me is, the only documents we fill in with *pencil* are those which have the largest effect on our lifestyle??? I’m taking my own pen!
[ I just hope my vote will not be made invalid by this.] Can’t bloody win!

  16. alleyb88

Well yes, there’s a heap of evidence of poll rigging. I actually think its a great idea. Simple fact – us Aussies love an underdog! There will be plenty voting with this in mind next Saturday. Bring it on!

All this was inspired by the principle–which is quite true within itself–that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

    Berny,

    From the AEC website:

The provision of pencils in polling booths is a requirement of section 206 of the Electoral Act. There is, however nothing to prevent an elector from marking his or her ballot paper with a pen if they so wish. The AEC has found from experience that pencils are the most reliable implements for marking ballot papers. Pencils are practical because they don’t run out and the polling staff check and sharpen pencils as necessary throughout election day. Pencils can be stored between elections and they work better in tropical areas. The security of your vote is guaranteed as the storage and counting of ballots is tightly scrutinised.

Thanks Dan for your explanation re: pencils.

As for poll rigging – hope it backfires on the bastards!

  20. cassilva48

Polls suggest that The Murdoch constabulary cannot make up their minds whether or not to go For “Shooting down the Tall Poppy” (Rudd in early Polls) or “Back a Winner” (Abbott in later Polls)!

Someone ought to tell Clive that owning a football team is not in the same league as running a country! Stick to what you know best Clive!
